This (Atmos) doesn't sound good in any respect:

ATMOS doesn't make sense

Atmos seems another planned top-down for-profit audio-technological revolution, working mostly only under ideal pretty high-priced conditions. Consumers, studio owners are being pressed into having to buy new devices, while audio tech manufacturers and sytm licnsing (Dolby) are trying to cash in billions for sthg., that was already (technically) working (surround) to a good part, but yet hasn't made all too many customers buy into it.
Stereo stays key ( i even prefer mono oftentimes ;)
Side note: The kind of pushing through of tech-for-profit reminds of CD versus Vinyl.
