Hi Will @Will 🌹🏴 - am observing a weird phenomenon, when posting to a.gup.pe groups from #Hubzilla:
Any post i make mentioning only one group seems to get repeated by all groups i am following/connected to. Let me know, if or how i can assist testing there, this is really unfortunate - and am hesitating to report this to test @ a.gup.pe now for the same reason...

@_jayrope You could technically still post to everyone, except the other groups you don't want to see it, but to make that practical I think we need some UI work :)

In any case, I thought it be worth a test to see what happens. For mapping out the problem space :)

Easter is not bad here now. Relaxing after the gig on Saturday, and we even got nice weather now! The snow is melting rapidly!

@Harald Eilertsen I just tested. Narrowing the scope of the post down to the viable group(s) works, however i am receiving their repeat notification as a DM then, which is kind of weird in another way.

Just to make this more clear: When i do the same in Mastodon i can set the scope of the post to Public, however mentioning a gup.pe group as part of the public post makes sure, that this particular group also receives and distributes the post, but not all groups that i am following there.
It seems worth noting, that gup.pe groups never follow you back.
They only distribute an incoming message (containing a respective mention of such group) to their followers.
Upon distribution you will not receive a notification of a repeat (or boost) in Mastodon otherwise.

@Harald Eilertsen More detail: When one of my connections mentions a gup.pe group, that i am also connected to, then i receive a repeat notification of said group upon my friend posting as well.

This doubles or multiples the notifications coming in for the post of my friend.

If my friend posts to 10 gup.pe groups, that i am connected to as well, then i will receive 10 extra repeat notifications from these groups on top of the post notification of my friend.

However, what i should receive instead is the distributed post of my friend both from my friend and resent from the gup.pe groups.

Note, that i do not receive anything, neither posts or repeat notifications from posters to a gup.pe group, which are not part of my connections.

While i understand somehow, what and why this happens in HZ it still makes it feel weird when connecting to this "other big part" of the Fediverse ... well you get my point i guess.
