If you have the Superblock app installed, you can click on their picture in one of their replies and select "Block completely"

I don't want to block completely.
I want to mute/ignore their posts, but leave a door open for them to connect, comment, like, all that.
Is that possible?

This is probably moot, given that I'm finally seeing your follow-up question after 8 months. You may have long ago gotten an answer and I might eventually receive those replies.
If they aren't in your connections, where are you seeing these posts that you want to ignore/mute?

Does the superblock addon have that capability?

Yeah, superblock is the "you are dead to me" option.
Since I asked yesterday, I realized that forums are one place you could see a post from someone you aren't connected to. Is that what you are looking to ignore? If so, I don't have any suggestions for that. I think that is seen as a message from the forum.
