Interacting with pixelfed be like "no more data found, please try looking at the remote profile".
Interacting with pixelfed, too: "This account is private."
Oh well. You had one job. š

Good, when they experiment with different levels of post permissions.

Yes, of course, but it seems fully "private" accounts in such a setup is extremely difficult to be done right. š

Filed an issue for that (

), for whatever it's worth. š

Good luck with that :) Am used to do this for #
Hubzilla
meanwhile. You're a coder i suppose. I only was a coder some 20 years ago. So my wording often doesn't hit the devs taste, when i put new issues into the git. They rarely get replies. If my PHP skills were better, and a proper documntation of Hubzilla's coding structure existed i would just attempt to help things myself. But, well. So, yeah, good luck with that.

(Hubzilla has a fairly good system of doing "remote authentication" here, but unfortunately it's Hubzilla only, and it seems the current #
Fediverse
is _extremely_ prone to the "not invented here, not used here" problem...š)

Yes, I agree. Haven't done PHP in, like, ten years or so (and still mostly wouldn't use it by free choice). But the problem is elsewhere: Yes Hubzilla can do that - but still, this won't fix this problem for trying remote access to Mastodon, Pixelfed or any of the other "new" platforms to date.

Ah the whole OAuth shebang? Yes, works super on Hubzilla. Devs of both platforms should exchange experience.

Yes, that would be very much desirable. But I don't see that happen anytime soon... š

Activity.pub seems to support OAuth in general:

Not completely sure how #
Hubzilla
handles this. Need to dig through its documentation a bit more to understand that.

As of working together i had a recent very positive experience with a Mastodon bug not diplaying #
tags
from Hubzilla right. Devs of both platforms worked together quickly and fixed tag display, after i posted support issues in both gits and connected devs to ach other by mentioning. So improvements
are
possible and there is a general will to work together.

Oh. Ok. So maybe I'll give it a try, but guess at this point this is a more profound change to do, with more ... caveats to consider.

Hubzilla documentation is a
codumentation
: an outdated mess (not just to me i guess). Not enough human resources to keep this updated as it seems.

I'd rcommend looking straight into the code of add-ons OAuth and OAuth2 and take, what's needed. PHP, though.

Iāve got two Pixelfed accounts, none of them is set to private, I can see them from a browser without being logged in anywhere when accessing them directly via the URL. But yes, coming from another instance often yields the no posts display, thatās somewhat annoying but Iāve learnt in the meantime to go to the original account.
The private Pixelfed account is a feature users can set. Iāve made a screenshot but I cannot get to it on Friendica on my iPadā¦ š¤

Der erste Satz in dem verlinkten Mastodon-PR auf github:
"OpenWebAuth provides a light-weight form of cross-domain authentication between websites on the open web."
