Physical music media are a dirty business, environmentally speaking - while many, especially in independent underground music making, love them so much (edit: incl. myself at times).
Discussing this with a friend this morning, as since August 26th a new rule of European authorities meant to decrease the environmental footprint of products requires producers/sellers to make sure in written form, that either the buyer/consumer will take proper care of product and packaging recycling - or a producer must take care of this themselves.
Obviously this is meant to target hyper markets, like Amazon etc., and it seems useful in the first place.
However, the procedure is highly buerocratic and ultimately means death to mailorder distribution of small runs of vinyl, CDs and cassettes by individual musicians, bands & small labels.
