@inpc has played literally the whole of Steve Reich's "Music for 18 musicians" from a digital source this morning. A great way to start the day in a lucid way, before everyday communication tasks could hit me.
I was surprised by the different sound and stereo image of his source, so I've compared his version with the recording, that is the most dear to me. You can hear it here

Apparently the currently available digital version (by
#Nonesuch Recs) is more than 10 mins shorter, than the version I know - and love. The new one is slightly faster and all sorts of intermediate developments have been edited out.
I can't see, why labels & their technicians would have the right to do this to an original recording. It's a disgusting pratice, really. Some stupid A&R has made this decision, or not even listened to the edit they got from
#mastering.
