In music production, electronic varieties are endless today. You can go to an SDR station, record a chinese koto-like instrument on 7265.04 KHz, just randomly, now, have it pitch or what have you-analyzed in some software, and turn the processed results into playing a commercial sample bank of some endorsed artist, fully premastered, or whatever you turn this into.
What does it help? "Sounds cool", of course. But this attitude alone makes for zero artistic content, it seems. It tells no story, it takes no stand. It is just a technical process. Most of electronic music seems to suffer from the illusion today, that it could reinvent a missing message by turning to processing external sources with all we got, but mostly turning itself into a representation of technical possibilities, rather than music and/or message.
Easier to stick electrodes into potatoes, drive an oscialltor and call that music - same result.
