Weird, how people report/applaud (TIL and all) their #dishwasher using the double amount of electricity compared to their clothes #dryer with a heat pump.

We wash dishes by hand, do dry laundry on a hanger, and know, that this works since we are alive...
Uses 100% less, i think.

One other tip to save money. Skip those washing machine cleaners for Descaling (entkalken), I think antical is the most known one. Simply add a bit of cleaning vinegar instead of washing softner. I does not only clean the rubbish that got stuck on the heating element but it also takes out any bad smell.

Our dog has a lot of furry puppets she likes to play with. I sometimes simply take a washing bag to preven loose items in the machine itself and wash them with vinegar, it totally softens and cleans the stuffed animals

@jrp It's true. Most of the energy in the dishwasher is used heating the water and during the drying cycle. I've seen some off-grid hacks where folks remove the heating element and just run it with cold water. I have also heard of this for clothes washers running on solar/wind.
